Remote Collaboration: Productivity App
Felicity
The Felicity app aims to improve work and study habits while providing customizable support through studies on productivity. As one of the team leads in the UI/UX department, I created wireframes that implemented research findings and built visual interactive elements that supported the app features.
CHALLENGE
During the pandemic the shift towards digital collaboration and communication. With a team of over 100 students, I had to facilitate online channels, documentation with individuals across different time zones.
PROPOSAL
Involving 150+ students across the world, Felicity supports the community through translating research into publicly accessible personal management tools.

Design Process
Through an iterative collaboration between the UI/UX and research teams, we translated psychological research findings and statistics into meaningful app features. This process enabled me to explore and integrate three key aspects: research, design, and practicality.
As a UI/UX team lead, I developed concepts, defined objectives, and assigned roles to my team members. Collaborating with them weekly to provide updates and feedback was a valuable learning experience, allowing us to refine and enhance each design iteration.
Personal Management
Our solution offers a customizable approach to boosting productivity with effective time management tools such as to-do lists, calendars, and Pomodoro timers. By incorporating gamification, the app enhances user engagement while making productivity more interactive and motivating.

Integrating Research into App Features
The biggest challenge was converting extensive content and research into accessible, intuitive features. Too many options and steps could overcomplicate the app, making it difficult to use. To address this, I proposed visualizing key concepts, such as incorporating a progress bar for completed tasks and categorizing priorities using color coding and task filters. By presenting information visually, users could grasp complex concepts more quickly and effortlessly.
With a focus on systematic methodologies, the app leverages data-driven and evidence-based interventions to address challenges in procrastination, motivation, learning strategies, mindset, and well-being.

Reflection
Given the number of students involved and the reliance on digital platforms, the Felicity team maintained an effective communication system. Utilizing Google Docs for planning, group chats for quick discussions, and breakout rooms for focused collaboration, we made remarkable progress each week. Reflecting on the final deliverables, there is still room for improvement. For instance, overlapping features could be consolidated to enhance clarity and serve more targeted purposes. Additionally, an excess of tools and interventions may dilute the app’s core objective, potentially reducing user engagement.
